So I went in to GameStop today to trade GTA 5 and NHL15 for Forza Horizon 2, both great games but I hardly ever touch my Xbox One any more for anything other than Netflix so I figured a new game may help lure me back in to playing video games. The girl at the counter told me she had one last copy of another racing game that had recently come out so I figured, for the 3$ extra I was going to pay with the trades, I’d go for Project CARS.

I can’t remember if any of you play it regularly or not, so I just thought I’d ask.

I tried starting out with the 250cc Superkarts. That made me almost return the game within 30 minutes of ownership. Twitchy is the best word to describe that frustrating experience. I’m sure having a steering wheel or messing with the settings helps a lot, however.

Anyways, I just started a F1000 series and was instantly rewarded. My goodness this game is incredible. The audio/visuals are spectacular and the driving dynamics are awesome.

What are y’alls opinions of the online play?

I haven’t played online yet but I like the game a lot. But yeah, controllers are basically useless until the patch drops (hopefully sometime next week). The karts are literally Satan with a controller right now.

Yeah, I was actually just now reading about the upcoming patch. I thought it was a shame (how bad the karts were to drive) because I thought they have some serious fun potential. But either way, I’m thoroughly enjoying the open-wheeled series right now. Definitely going to purchase a steering wheel in the coming months.

With the karts you have to keep in mind that the front wheels are actually near where your knees are, so the steering is going to be super twitchy.

I have it on PC and have enjoyed it quite a bit, but I haven’t tried online yet.

I just picked it up today. Right now I’m really trying to feel out the game and re train myself from all these years of Gran Turismo. The controls are frustrating me but I’m using a controller so I think I just need to spend some time and get more practice at it. The visuals and the engine sounds are amazing.

First update your controller by going to the xbox settings by pressing start on home screen, controller, update (must be plugged in)

press start in p cars and go to options, controls

SET MODE 3 FIRST! —- this is at the bottom of the options

Steering Deadzone - 20%

Steering Sensitivity - 5%

Throttle Deadzone - 10% (I like 0 here personally,)

Throttle Sensitivity - 10%

Braking Deadzone - 10% (I like 0 here, change this and the throttle deadzone at same time and try them at 0 and at 10 see what you like)

Braking Sensitivity - 10%

Clutch Deadzone - 5% cx

Clutch Sensitivity - 45%

Speed Sensitivity - 75%

Controller Filtering Sensitivity - 25%

Mode = 3

Advanced options = All set to ON ****EXCEPT FOR OPPOSITE LOCK HELP, Turn that off!

******Next go to game play options and make sure all braking steering assists are off etc.

- I also recommend you turn off abs stb and tcs here, if you want that sim experience.

the xbox remote is not dialed in on xbox for some reason! LOL. Anyway it will be patched but for now I put settings below for xbox. Couple buddies are running it on both and the xbox is nearly unplayable with standard controller settings where the pc is suppose to be perfect

there is a bug on the xbox where the car turns and stays turned the opposite direction, it will be fixed in the patch, so thats another complaint you will see from the xbox crowd. Sadly also the game makes you mic cut out when feedback in remote occurs. That will also be fixed. Sadly xbox really limited pcars ability to test game much on the box before release.hmm i wonder why

I haven’t had any experience with actual karts but it felt like there was tons of grip then snap oversteer. Ive really only spent time with the Boss 302 which felt eerily like my Mustang. Haven’t put that much time in though.

I really like it. I agree, the karts are ridiculous, not a fan of them. Not a fan of the road cars, either. All the other cars in game, the actual race cars- those are great! Love ‘em! This is my first sim ever, unless GT4 and Forza 3 count as sims.

I play on PC with a Xbox controller, because I’m too poor to get a wheel set-up right now. As a side note, if anyone has it for PC and wants to do some races, I’m game! Been looking for an excuse to hope online (I’ve have bad experiences with pub races).
